St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office handles law enforcement in unincorporated parts of St. Tammany Parish and serves many communities in the Slidell area that fall outside city limits. The STPSO is at 300 Brownswitch Road, Slidell, LA 70458. This is actually in the Slidell area itself, which is convenient for residents. The main number is (985) 276-1000.

If an incident occurred just outside Slidell city limits, the STPSO would likely have the report rather than SPD. Both agencies serve the same general area, so if you are not sure which one responded to a specific incident, calling both is the safest approach. STPSO records requests go through their Records Division; call the main line and ask for routing to Records.

Louisiana Public Records Law

Under La. R.S. 44:1, public agencies in Louisiana must make non-exempt records available within three business days of a valid request. The Slidell Police Department and STPSO are both subject to this rule. If SPD denies a request, they must provide a written explanation citing the applicable exemption under La. R.S. 44:3. Records from active investigations, juvenile cases, sexual offense reports, and undercover operations are the most commonly withheld under these exemptions. For pending criminal cases, only the initial report may be available under La. R.S. 44:3(A)(1).

Crash Reports for Slidell Accidents

You can search by report number or by last name, date, and street. The LSP Traffic Records Unit page has additional context at lsp.org.
